Sensini by Roberto Bolano

The story consist of two parts: the first describes the relationship between the narrator and Sensini (they gradually become friendlier and friendlier), and the second part describes the meeting with Miranda, Sensini’s daughter.
Because the reader identifies with the narrator in the first part, they feel what the narrator feels when he meets Miranda. The most important part of the story is the ending. All the things that take place before the last scene are the preparation for the climax. Both the narrator and Miranda look back at Sensini with the same nostalgic feeling.
The ending “even my voice sounded different” is superb. It reveals that the narrator has affection toward Miranda. The content of his poem for her is about to be realized. His world is shifting only because of her existence besides him. The word ‘different’ has an infinite possibility between the two. The reader can fully enjoy the afterglow.
