HONOR by Tessa Hadleyo (New Yorker)

This is a short story about the narrator’s aunt, Andy. She had her son, Charlie, killed by her husband. Andy gets false pregnancy because of the trauma she has undergone. The writer carefully follows the psychology of Sally (the narrator) from her childhood to adulthood. She is scared that the same thing might happen to her just as Charlie has suffered.
The illustration of Sally’s psychology is sometimes complicated. The writing style is sometimes so indirect that the reader finds it difficult to understand the story.
This is a story of balance in human psychology. Andy loses her child but falls pregnant. Her body wants another Charlie to compensate for the loss of her child.
