What Is Remembered by Alice Munro

Full of psychological interaction between Meriel and the doctor. In the latter half of the story the doctor says, “No” and refuses to kiss her to protect her and himself. This is an unusual attitude for a normal man. Usually a man would kiss her, knowing that would be the last time they meet.

Long after her husband dies, she remembers the incident and allows her imagination run wild. She might have led a different life.

Not so interesting. Just pointed out a kind of unusual relation between a man and a woman. Everybody has a chance to imagine what would have happened if he or she did not choose the way they have chosen.
