John Collier "Green Thought"
I enjoyed "Green Thought" very much. It is a horror and humorous story. Isn't it humorous that you will see a cat's head instead of a flower? Mr. Mannering and his cousin Jane and the mouse also become the victims of this strange queer plant.
I was wondering how the story will end, but lo! Mr. Mannering's nephew is going to cut Mr. Mannering because of his anger! A surprisingly cruel but somehow humorous story.
I have a question:what was Cousin Jane practicing? What does this passage mean? "[Cousin Jane] was given to the practice of the very latest ideas on the dual culture of the soul and body--Swedish, German, neo-Greek, and all that." Since Mr. Mannering did not see her clothes on the floor of the hothouse, she was naked. Therefore, the "the ideas on the dual culture" is a naturalist (nudist) idea? (September 13, 2009)
